We went today following our Elsie visit... wow, just incredible. One of the coolest things I have ever seen. It is monstrous.
Mei Lin had hired us a driver to go there, it is about an hour and a half from Beijing. We were to do a through hike of 10 km, then come down a valley and cross a river on a zip line.
Unfortunately after hiking for 2 -3 hours in the rain, in a cheapo site bought poncho, we were turned back by a man in one of the guard towers, he stated it was another 3 hours to go... so we scrambled back to the cable car with 5 minutes to spare, only to find ourselves at our starting point with no driver. Took us a while to track him down via cell phone. Was just a great trip though. We are spent!
